Festival Favorite “The Dark Below” Hits Theaters
Film festivals are wonderful gatherings to catch some of the best indie horror out there. Over the course of one-year, hundreds of amazing horror films hit the festival circuit. Out of those few hundred, most end up on VOD, some may have a DVD release, but very few of these gems ever get to hit theaters. Coming to select theaters on March 10, you can catch a festival favorite from last year, The Dark Below.
The Dark Below tells the following story:
A woman struggles for survival beneath a frozen lake while a serial killer stalks her from the surface.
Have your inhalers ready, this claustrophobic intense thriller looks to go a mile a second in how much tension the audience will feel. Reviews from festivals have been nothing but stellar, saying “you have not seen anything like it.”
This is director Douglas Shulze‘s fourth and most ambitious film. The fear driven story holds minimal dialog and focuses on the struggling survival of the woman beneath the frozen lake. The film stars Lauren Mae Shafer, David G.B. Brown, and Veronica Cartwright.
The Dark Below features a gut-wrenching and bone-chilling soundtrack recorded by multiplatinum artist Eric Bobo who is a percussionist for Cypress Hill and The Beastie Boys.
It screened at prestigious genre festivals such as Fantasia International, FrightFest UK, Monsters of Film in Sweden and Toronto After Dark. In all the places the film traveled it was celebrated by critics and audiences alike.
Now you have the opportunity to catch The Dark Below thanks to Parade Deck Films. On March 10 there will be a limited release across the United States.
