2017 is off to a wonderful start for all things horror. Yes, Rings may have failed miserably causing a ripple effect of disappointment, such as the cancellation of the new Friday the 13th film. But we have had incredible success with the two original horror films that have hit theaters thus far. M. Night‘s Split and Jordan Peele’s Get Out have proven that we as an audience want original, meaningful horror. Well up next is James Gunn and Greg McLeans‘s attempt, with The Belko Experiment.
The Belko Experiment will tell the following story:
In a twisted social experiment, 80 Americans are locked in their high-rise corporate office in Bogotá, Colombia and ordered by an unknown voice coming from the company’s intercom system to participate in a deadly game of kill or be killed.
James Gunn, known for his direction on the Marvel films Guardians of The Galaxy and Slither puts pen to paper with the writing credit on this feature. Wolf Creek director Greg McLean gets behind the camera and has an opportunity to show off his skills in this unique Saw-like story. The teaming up should be nothing short of spectacular. This is another film from Blumhouse, specifically under the BH Tilt umbrella. So far this year Blumhouse has become THE brand for horror. Some have gone out to call it the Pixar of horror, but with the rate they are turning out good products, we have no idea where to place them. Will The Belko Experiment be the next big hit for Blumhouse? We Are Indie Horror seems to think so. This is something we have been looking forward to for quite some time and the RED BAND CLIP, which you can catch below, has us even more stoked than before.Catch The Belko Experiment in theaters on March 17, 2017.
